For sellers
Sell your eye care equipment to buyers who are who they say they are
EyeCareDirect is a marketplace only for verified eye care professionals and suppliers. Every buyer's credentials are checked, large orders are paid by bank transfer, and you're paid straight into your own Stripe account.
Verified buyers only
No anonymous card holders. Every buyer is a credential-checked eye care professional, practice or supplier.
Bank transfer for big orders
From $2,500, buyers pay by ACH: Stripe's fee is at most $5, and you ship only once the money has cleared.
No listing or monthly fees
Free to list. When it sells: 10% up to $2,500, 4% above, plus Stripe's own fee. Nothing on shipping.
Every buyer is verified
On a general marketplace, anyone with a card can buy your $15,000 slit lamp. Here, before a buyer can message you, make an offer or check out, they have:
- Confirmed their identity, email address and mobile number.
- Had their professional credentials checked: an NPI or state license for clinicians, or business documents for practices and suppliers.
- Been screened against the US sanctions list.
Restricted devices go only to buyers allowed to use them: surgical instruments to licensed clinicians, and lasers to ophthalmologists and to optometrists whose state allows lasers. EyeCareDirect checks this at checkout, so you don't have to.
Large orders are paid by bank transfer
Orders of $2,500 or more are paid by ACH bank transfer through Stripe, with the buyer logging in to their bank to authorize it. That means:
- Lower fees. Stripe charges 0.8% for a bank payment, capped at $5, instead of about 3% for a card. On a $15,000 order that's $5 instead of roughly $435.
- No card chargebacks on those orders. A card buyer can dispute a charge with their card issuer for months. A business bank payment has far fewer ways to be reversed.
- Card orders of $500 or more are authenticated. Below the bank-transfer threshold, the buyer confirms larger card payments with their card issuer (3D Secure). If such a payment is later disputed as fraud, the liability generally shifts to the issuer, not you.
- You ship only after the money clears. A bank payment takes about four business days. The items are held for the buyer meanwhile, and you're told about the order, and asked to ship, only once it has cleared.
Paid straight to your own Stripe account
Buyers pay you directly, into your own Stripe account, and Stripe pays you out on your usual schedule. EyeCareDirect takes its commission as an application fee on each payment, so the money never sits with us. You keep your own Stripe dashboard, reporting and payout settings, and qualifying sellers can be offered financing by Stripe Capital there.
Clear rules for both sides
- You set the shipping time. Each listing says how many business days you need to ship; buyers know before they buy.
- A short, defined problem window. After delivery the buyer has 72 hours to report a problem, extended only while you're messaging each other. Then the order is final.
- You get a say. If a buyer reports a problem, you have two business days to refund, send a prepaid return label, or explain why you disagree, and EyeCareDirect reviews disagreements.
- Reviews go both ways. You rate buyers as they rate you, and your rating and Verified badge show on your store and listings.
- Conversations stay on the record. Messages with buyers are kept on EyeCareDirect, with phone numbers and emails hidden, so every agreement is written down.
Simple pricing
No listing fees, no monthly subscription. When an item sells, EyeCareDirect's commission is 10% of the item price up to $2,500 and 4% of any amount above, plus Stripe's processing fee, which Stripe takes directly in your Stripe account. Nothing is charged on shipping. The lower rate on expensive equipment means a $15,000 instrument costs far less to sell than a flat percentage would.
| Item price | Buyer pays by | Commission | Stripe fee (est.) | You receive |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $250 | Card | $25 | $7.55 | $217.45 |

| $2,500 | Bank transfer | $250 | $5 | $2,245 |

Founding sellers, invited while we launch, pay a flat 2% commission for their first 12 months, and their store carries the Founding Seller badge.
Examples before shipping, which you set and keep. Stripe's fees are its standard US pricing; your Stripe dashboard shows the exact amount on each payment.

Common questions
Who buys on EyeCareDirect?
Only verified eye care professionals and businesses: optometrists, ophthalmologists, opticians, practices and suppliers. Every buyer confirms their identity, email and mobile number, and their professional credentials are checked before they can message a seller, make an offer or check out.
How are large orders paid?
Orders of $2,500 or more are paid by bank transfer (ACH) through Stripe, not by card. The order is only placed, and you are only asked to ship, once the payment has cleared. Stripe's fee for a bank payment is 0.8%, capped at $5.
What does it cost to sell?
Listing is free and there is no monthly fee. When an item sells, EyeCareDirect's commission is 10% of the item price up to $2,500 and 4% of any amount above, plus Stripe's processing fee: 2.9% + 30¢ by card, or at most $5 by bank transfer. No commission is charged on shipping.
How and when am I paid?
Buyers pay into your own Stripe account, and Stripe pays you out on your usual Stripe schedule. EyeCareDirect's commission is taken as an application fee on each payment; the money never sits with EyeCareDirect.
How long can a buyer report a problem?
Once delivery is confirmed, the buyer has 72 hours to report a problem, and each message between you extends that by 72 hours from the message. After that the order is final. If a buyer reports a problem, you have two business days to refund, send a prepaid return label or explain why you disagree; EyeCareDirect reviews it if you disagree.
Can I sell restricted devices?
Yes, to the right buyers. Surgical instruments can only be bought by licensed clinicians or practices with a licensed authorized purchaser, and ophthalmic lasers by ophthalmologists and by optometrists whose state scope of practice includes lasers. EyeCareDirect checks the buyer's license at checkout.
